Membrane Electrode Assemblies:
The membrane electrode assembly (MEA) is an assembly of a PEM membrane, a catalyst layer either side of the membrane and two GDL’s which are hot pressed to form a single component. Each side of the membrane then forms an electrode, often called a gas diffusion electrode (GDE) which is a combination of the catalyst layer and the GDL.
